Los Angeles Police Department detectives are looking for witnesses who can help them identify a suspect who shot a business owner in the MacArthur Park area in April.

The business owner was left paralyzed from the waist down. KNX News’ Pete Demetriou reported the shooting happened at Seventh St. and Alvarado St. on the evening of April 6.

Officer Kristin Marin said the man was approaching his parked car when two women standing next to it got into a violent argument.

“Afraid for his children's safety, he begins to walk towards his vehicle from the rear side to move his vehicle or check on his children,” Marin said. “Now, as he's standing between both his vehicle and the suspect vehicle, which is double parked on the left side of the victim's vehicle, he observes the rear passenger side window come down and sees a firearm pointed directly at him.”

The business owner was shot in the abdomen. His wife called 911 as the shooter drove off in a silver Toyota Camry with body damage on the front fender.
