An unnamed woman in her 70s died Friday after she reportedly drove a car off the fourth floor of a parking structure in Orange.
The woman apparently accidentally drove off the open-air structure attached to the St. Joseph Outpatient Pavilion medical offices at 1140 West La Veta Avenue at about 9:20 a.m. She drove through a cement barrier along the perimeter of the fourth floor before plummeting over the edge, Orange Police Sgt. Phil McMullin told KNX.
McMullin told KNX the car landed on its roof. Bystanders attempted a rescue in the immediate aftermath, flipping the car upright. But the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have reported no other injuries in connection with the incident. The woman was the vehicle’s only occupant.
