PARAMOUNT, Calif. (KNX) — After more than a day of searching for the parents of a young child found in a homeless encampment in Paramount, police said Friday afternoon the child's mother had been located.
The county sheriff's department said the young boy had been connected with a social worker from DCFS and would soon meet with his mother to be reunited or be provided the necessary services for placement.

Authorities believe the boy is named Anthony. Officers said they located him Thursday morning with a man inside the camp along the Los Angeles River near the 710 and 105 freeways, Sheriff's Deputy David Yoo told the City News Service.
Police have not said how they discovered the boy. The Sheriff's Lakewood Station had asked for the public's help searching for his family.
