DECEMBER 7TH: Rubia is a 1 1/2 year old 50 pound lab mix. She is an active dog and would do best in a home with a fenced yard and another active dog. Rubia walks well on a leash and is always up for daily walks.

Rubia recently graduated from the Mo Dept of Corrections 12 week training program, Puppies 4 Parole. She was a model student and brushed up on her obedience skills as well as learning a few tricks. Her foster is currently working with her on learning the agility course. DECEMBER 15TH & 18TH: Meet our sweet, bonded canine sisters, Polly & Kayah; both dream of a forever home for the holidays together. They are both 18 months old and ~30 lbs each. Crate and house trained, friendly with people and dogs of all sizes. Great loose-leash walker, great with people, and love to welcome new visitors into your home. They absolutely love meeting new people! They enjoy wrestling and can get rowdy when encouraged by other dogs, but they respond well to cues and are gentle with calmer dogs. Generally, they are very laid back and sit for a treat. They have not met kids, but we think they would be friendly towards kids. They tend to join other packs and enjoy playing and snuggling with other dogs. What is so unique about these two is that they are two adorable babies who mirror and rely on each other. They sit and lay the same way, constantly snuggle, and have similar mannerisms. They genuinely resemble twins. They are extremely affectionate towards humans and always want to be close to their people, so prepare for lots of cuddles! This bonded pair is available for adoption at CARE STL , head to icarestl.org

DECEMBER 21ST: Albin arrived at Five Acres in mid-November from a rescue to shelter transport. He was surrendered to a shelter in Fredericktown, Missouri after being picked up as a stray and his humans never came back for him. Albin is currently in foster with a loving family. He's a mature adult who behaves like a grandpa. He's lower energy, and a total cuddle bug, believed to be a malamute mix. Loves people including kids and is very friendly with other dogs and cats. He is absolutely a gentle giant, he weighs in at 90lbs but he is similar to a gigantic teddy bear. He's not destructive and is an angel in the home. The fosters have really enjoyed having him and he's such an easy going boy. Fully potty trained. 6 years old. Attention seeker, in the most positive manner. DECEMBER 22ND: Boone is a mix between a newbie at the shelter, and an old friend. So he returned again through no fault of his own. We first met in July of this year after his previous family decided that they no longer had the time to accommodate his needs and energy level. He was adopted out pretty quickly after he arrived, and spent time in foster prior to adoption, but he has found his way back to us. His most recent owner was moving into an apartment and couldn't bring him with. Boone is initially pretty shy, he really does not care for the shelter life. He opens up pretty quickly in the home but here he is stressed and over-stimulated. Once Boone opens up he is very good at "retrieving" after all he is a lab. He will play ball and return the ball to you, and he will greet you at the door with a toy to say "hello". He is really good or neutral to everything. He has experience with kids, and it's always been really positive. He engages with the kids in a positively playful way. Boone loves dogs, and to play with them and to co-exist with them. He can be good with cats over time, it just takes a little time for him to sort out their communication. Loves attention and is very affectionate. He is also a big boy at 82lbs but he is a gentle giant. Find out more about Boone at
