The actress revealed that she recently approached a man in New York’s Central Park and inquired whether or not he was single.

“We had a great conversation and we didn’t bother with the obligatory, ‘Let’s exchange numbers.’ And I just said, “Great! I gotta tell you. I just wanted to do something that I could make myself proud today.’ And he said, ‘I’m proud of you.’ And we walked away and it was the most positive experience. I want to do it again,” she explained, adding that the conversation revealed that the man was only 28.

“Was it dating apps that stopped us from going up to people and asking them out? Now we don’t have to worry about public rejection, we can just hide behind the app,” she wondered.

“Forget it. I’m over it. I want to talk to people IRL,” she told Fallon.
The talk show host has been pretty vocal about her dating life recently.

“Most of them have been not so great,” she admitted of the dates she’s been on, adding, “but to me those are like funny stories, and I never want people to get cynical out there. You have to be hopeful, and you have to do it for yourself. Get ready, play music, put on your favorite outfit.”

She admitted that despite the roadblocks, she remains hopeful.

“I think as my kids have gotten older and their dad is happily remarried,” she said, “times change and, you know, we bloom, and I am more open to it now. It's been six years, I'm a little rusty, my life is very different, I've never even approached dating, let alone a relationship as a single mom who has finally made an investment in myself. I have always been about relationships and my kids and everyone else. I don't think I've ever entered a relationship, this whole of a person as an individual entity.”

During an emotional chat with “Queer Eye” star Bobby Berk, Barrymore, who has two daughters, Olive, 9, and Frankie, 7, whom she shares with ex-husband Will Kopelman, explained that she doesn’t want to bring people home.

“I think it would take me a very long time to meet someone and get to know them before I could even ever introduce them to my daughters,” she said.

The actress also revealed that she's looking for someone that isn't "interested in marriage or kids" as she immediately shot down the idea of getting remarried in the future.

“Never!” she exclaimed, adding, “There’s no reason to be. I would maybe live with someone, maybe, but I’ve had kids. There’s no way. I will never ever ever ever [get married]."
