It's the most searched flower in the week leading up to the holiday in 18 states over the last five years, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. See the full list here.

It's also the flower that more than 62% of the moms surveyed said they wanted.
Gardenias, cyclamen, poppies and peonies round out the top five flower searches by state.
Tulips and lilies are number two and three in the mom survey. And a flower that didn't make the search results by state, but garnered nearly 34% of the response by moms is the sunflower.

And if you're thinking about giving your mom a homemade gift, you may want to think again. According to the survey, 56% would rather have something you bought than something you made. Gen X moms want a day to be by themselves.
Breck's says the average person spends $67.92 on gifts for Mother's Day and $41.43 on flowers.

So grab mom those roses and a bottle of wine or some jewelry and you just might make her day.
