Down to the Dirty Dozen at the 85th National Baseball Congress World Series

Tuesday was the final day of pool play for the 85th National Baseball Congress World Series at Eck Stadium; the action ended at 12:49 a.m. Wednesday on the Wichita State campus.

Facing elimination, the Haysville Aviators defeated the Great Bend Bat Cats 6-1; Haysville advanced into bracket play.

The Santa Barbara Foresters completed a 3-0 sweep through their pool with an 8-1 win over the Gameday Saints (Colorado). As pool champions, the Foresters advanced directly into Thursday's quarterfinals, while the Saints were eliminated.

Wednesday is Day 12 of the World Series, and a dozen teams remain. The rest of the tournament is a single-elmination bracket:

1:00 p.m. -- Colorado Cyclones vs. Seattle Studs

3:30 p.m. -- San Diego Waves vs. Kansas Cannons

7:00 p.m. -- Derby Twins vs. Haysville Aviators

9:30 p.m. -- Great Bend Bat Cats vs. San Diego Stars
