In college football, the Gasparilla Bowl was played Monday in Tampa, Florida; Central Florida defeated Marshall 48-25 in a game lasting nearly four hours.
Starting at cornerback on defense for UCF was junior Tay Gowan, who played at Butler Community College. Gowan finished with one tackle, and he broke up a pass, which is shown in the photo accompanying this story.
Central Florida finished the season with a record of 10-3, losing its three games by a total of seven points. This is the third straight 10-win season for UCF.
