Happy 60th birthday to a Wichita sports legend

Happy 60th birthday today to Wichita sports legend Lynette Woodard.

As a high school standout, Woodard led the North High Redskins to a pair of state championships.

As a college player at the University of Kansas, Woodard was a four-time All-American, becoming major college basketball's career women's scoring leader; she averaged 26 points per game during her college career with the Jayhawks.

Woodard was a member of the United States somen's basketball team that won the gold medal at the Los Angeles Summer Olympics in 1984.

Woodard later become the first woman to ever play for the Harlem Globetrotters.

She is a member of the National High School Hall of Fame, the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, and the inaugural class in the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame.

Woodard is the current women's basketball coach at Winthrop University in South Carolina.
