Monday marked the 10th day of competition at the 85th National Baseball Congress World Series at Eck Stadium on the Wichita State campus; the action wrapped up at 12:51 a.m. Tuesday.
Eight teams played their final games in pool play; losses by the Texas Express and the San Antonio Angels eliminated them from the annual tournament.
Wins by the Cheney Diamond Dawgs and the Fairbanks (Alaska) Goldpanners made those teams winners of their respective pools; they get a bye, advancing to the tournament quarterfinals on Thursday.
Tuesday will be Day 11 of play at the NBC World Series, the final day of pool play for eight teams. The two pool-winners will advance to the quarterfinals, four more teams will advance to bracket play on Wednesday, and the other two teams will be eliminated.
