Jan. 2: Browns interview former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.

Jan. 1: Browns coaching search is at seven legitimite candidates: Mike McCarthy, who will interview Thursday, plus requests to interview Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, Ravens OC Greg Roman, 49ers DC Robert Saleh, Bills OC Brian Daboll, Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski and Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy

Dec 31: Baylor head coach Matt Rhule declined the Browns request to interview him for the head coaching job according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Browns have requested an interview with Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
49ers run game coordinator Mike McDaniel and pass game coordinator Mike LaFleur are also likely to interview with the Browns according to Schefter but nothing has been scheduled.
Browns "mutually" part ways with general manager John Dorsey freeing chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta to lead the coaching search.
Dec. 30: The Browns have requested permission to interview Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman, 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh and Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.
Under league rules, the Browns may interview Saleh and Roman this week because Baltimore and San Francisco are on a playoff bye, but McDaniels’ interview will have to wait until after New England’s Wild Card game and the same goes for Daboll after the Bills play the Texans Saturday.
The Browns are expected to request an interview with Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski, who interviewed for the job last year.
The Browns will interview former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy according to Mark Kay Cabot/Cleveland.com.
General manager John Dorsey’s fate could be decided by the next head coach.
Washington is expected to name former Panthers head coach Ron Rivera as their new head coach according to ESPN and NFL Network taking him out of the running for consideration by the Browns.
Dec. 29: Freddie Kitchens fired by the Browns.
Owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam promise a “comprehensive” search to find a replacement for Kitchens.
Browns chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta expected to play key role in search.
