Ben Simmons likes fiery Skip Bayless tweet ripping Harden, Sixers

Nets star Ben Simmons seemed to relish the 76ers' elimination from the postseason at the hands of the Miami Heat on Thursday night.

The former Sixer, dealt to the Nets in the infamous blockbuster swap involving James Harden, favorited a blistering hot take from FS1 pundit Skip Bayless.

"James Harden typically no-showed in the second half of this closeout game," Bayless said on Twitter after the Sixers were knocked out in the conference semifinals for the second year in a row. "Now he's mostly just another Jim Harden. Ben Simmons eventually will make this trade look so phoolish for Philly."

Obviously there's only so much to be parsed from "liking" a tweet, but Bayless' sentiment isn't exactly nuanced here.

Simmons and the Sixers both seem to have some lingering hard feelings over their decidedly fraught parting of ways.

The epic Simmons-Harden trade came after a months-long standoff between Simmons and his former team.

The three-time All-Star had held out after requesting a trade, while the Sixers took their time unloading him, waiting for a trade market to take shape. Things got ugly with the sides squabbling over whether he was owed his salary.

Simmons never saw game action with the Nets, sealing his lost season. He received an epidural for his back and later underwent surgery.

Harden was solid with the Sixers but not quite the difference-maker they were hoping he would be. The team lost some important depth players in the Simmons trade, in sharpshooter Seth Curry and reserve center Andre Drummond.

It may be too soon to say who won the famous trade. For now, following disappointing finishes for both teams, it feels safe to call it a draw. But the debate rages on, and should be renewed next season with fervor.
