Former MLB slugger Jeremy Giambi has died, according to one of his former teams and media reports.

The former Royals and Athletics utility man passed away at his parents' home in California, MLB insider Ken Rosenthal reported. The Athletics confirmed the sad news on social media.
Giambi was 47. A cause of death was not yet revealed.
Giambi, who was born and raised in California, was the younger brother and Athletics teammate of 2000 American League MVP Jason Giambi.
For his career, Jeremy hit .263/.377/.430 with 52 home runs and 209 RBIs in 1,705 plate appearances across six seasons in the Majors.
The left-handed-hitting outfielder/first baseman/DH retired after the 2003 season, following brief stints with the Red Sox and Phillies. He played collegiately for Cal State Fullerton.
Giambi was mentioned in the legendary Michael Lewis book Moneyball, and his character appeared in the movie of the same title, starring Brad Pitt.
Jeremy was perhaps best remembered as the baserunner who was tagged out at home plate by Yankees catcher Jorge Posada on Derek Jeter's legendary "flip play" during the thrilling 2001 ALDS.
