White Sox star first baseman Jose Abreu is day-to-day after leaving his team’s game against the Royals on Friday afternoon following a scary collision.
Abreu suffered a facial contusion, facial laceration and bruised left knee when Royals third baseman Hunter Dozier ran into him while running out an infield pop-up. The initial assessment for a concussion for Abreu was negative, the team said.
The reigning American League MVP, Abreu entered the day hitting .240 with seven homers, 31 RBIs and a .793 OPS in 35 games.
