AL MVP Jose Abreu exits after scary collision with Royals slugger

White Sox star first baseman Jose Abreu is day-to-day after leaving his team’s game against the Royals on Friday afternoon following a scary collision.

Abreu suffered a facial contusion, facial laceration and bruised left knee when Royals third baseman Hunter Dozier ran into him while running out an infield pop-up. The initial assessment for a concussion for Abreu was negative, the team said.

The reigning American League MVP, Abreu entered the day hitting .240 with seven homers, 31 RBIs and a .793 OPS in 35 games.
