PHILADELPHIA (94WIP) -- It wasn't easy. They made you hold your breath. But the Philadelphia 76ers are coming home with a split in Toronto.
They squeaked out a 94-89 win over the Raptors in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Monday night, ending a 14-game losing streak north of the border.
After the game, 76ers coach Brett Brown said, "This was James Butler. That was the adult in the room."
Butler responded with: "My name isn't James. Literally it's Jimmy."
Three main takeaways:
1. Jimmy Butler was remarkable with 30 points on 9-for-22 shooting and 11 rebounds. It was especially key because Joel Embiid was battling a stomach bug.
2. Minus some late moments in the fourth quarter, the Sixers defense was outstanding, holding Toronto to 36.7 percent shooting and 27.8 percent on 3-pointers.
3. Brown's game plan was phenomenal, as were his rotation substitutions. He deserves tons of credit.
