Well, that was quick.

Two days after firing Steve Mills as team president, the Knicks are finalizing plans to hire player agent Leon Rose to take his place, according to multiple reports.

Rose comes from CAA, coincidentally the same agency that employed Brodie Van Wagenen before the Mets hired him as their general manager in October 2018.

Rose's client list includes Carmelo Anthony, Devin Booker, Joel Embiid, Chris Paul and Karl-Anthony Towns. He was LeBron James' agent from 2005-12.

According to ESPN, Knicks owner James Dolan is modeling the front-office model used by the Warriors and Lakers, who have former agents Bob Myers and Rob Pelinka, respectively, who run their front offices.

William Wesley, better known as "World Wide Wes," a longtime NBA power broker with close ties to Rose, is also expected to join the Knicks front office, multiple reports said.

An NBA source told Newsday that general manager Scott Perry, who has been overseeing basketball operations since Mills' firing, is expected to depart the Knicks following Thursday's trade deadline or after the season ends. With Rose becoming a first-time NBA executive, the Knicks will look to hire an experienced general manager, Newsday reported.

RADIO.COM NBA insider Ryan McDonough, a former Phoenix Suns general manager, told WFAN's "Moose and Maggie" show that he was initially opposed to the idea of the Knicks hiring an agent with no front-office experience until he heard Rose's name. He said he's had many dealings with Rose over the years and has great respect for him.

"If you were to list agents who are available or may be interested to run the Knicks and that the Knicks could potentially get, I would put Leon Rose probably as the top name on my list, and I think that would be an excellent hire for James Dolan and the Knicks ownership group," McDonough said.

The Knicks are 15-36 this season, the third-worst record in the Eastern Conference. They have not been to the playoffs since 2013.
