Bill Belichick has had multiple interviews with the Falcons, but according to multiple reports, members of the front office are hoping that owner Arthur Blank doesn’t go through with hiring one of the most accomplished head coaches in league history.
If members of the organization don’t want Belichick in Atlanta, Boomer wonders what would be wrong with the former Patriots head coach taking a year off and waiting for a better opportunity.
Who knows? Maybe one of those opportunities will be in the Big Apple.
“What’s wrong with taking a year off? Why do we have to go jumping headfirst back into something?” Boomer said. “Who knows what the Giants and Jets are gonna look like next year? Who knows? I can’t sit here and say I know the Jets or Giants are going to win 10 games. Those jobs might be open this time next year. You never know.”
Belichick has never hid his admiration for the Giants franchise, and while they seem set with the Brian Daboll/Joe Schoen regime at this point, a lot can change in a year.
“If he doesn’t get the Atlanta job, there will be five or six jobs open next year. It could include a New York team,” Boomer said. “I don’t see him ever coming to the Jets…but I could definitely see him coming to the Giants if the Giants don’t go and turn things around.”
