Earlier this week reports linked Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy as a possible candidate to the head coaching job at USC.
But Bieniemy did not want to hear about it when addressing reporters on Thursday.
“Well you know me — you guys know me. I am where my feet are,” Bieniemy said. “So when it’s all said and done with, I am focused on the task at hand. I’m not worried about anything where my name is being mentioned. My job right now is to make sure that we’re preparing for this weekend’s opponent.”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported Bieniemy, a southern California native, as a candidate for the job on Tuesday, a day after the university fired Clay Helton.
Bieniemy is among the top head coaching candidates among NFL coordinators, although he continues to get passed over. The USC job is believed to be one of the few college jobs he would leave the NFL for, though.
But Bieniemy was not entertaining any of that.
