After winning the first game of the 2021 season after a 4-11-1 campaign, much of which was played without Joe Burrow, the Bengals just have to be happy that he's back on the field and ready to become the team's franchise quarterback. That doesn't mean that they always have to be thrilled with his performance, however.
That was the case in Week 2 for much of the game against the Chicago Bears. After getting shut out in the first half, Burrow looked to the second half of the game for redemption. And what did he find? A pick six on the first drive of the fourth quarter, his second pass of the set...
...followed by another interception on his very next pass attempted the next drive...
...followed by a third interception on his third consecutive pass attempt. Wow.
For a second it seems like angry fans were a tad too quick to react, seeing as the next two Bengals drives ended in a Burrow-to-Ja'Marr Chase touchdown and then a Burrow-to-Tee Higgins TD after the defense forced a Justin Fields interception. But after a rollercoaster of a game, the Bears were able to pull it out, and the second-year QB's miscues certainly played a big part in that.
