According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Patriots have traded Michel to the Rams in exchange for two late-round (fifth and sixth) conditional draft picks.

The Rams needed a running back following a number of injuries this summer at the position, and also Cam Akers tearing his Achilles right before training camp began.

New England is now depending on Damien Harris to stay healthy and then rookie Rhamondre Stevenson and potentially J.J. Taylor to play bigger roles than expected.

Michel, a 2018 first-round pick, finished with 931 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie, 912 yards and seven touchdowns in 2019 and then 449 yards and one touchdown in nine games last year.
