The Hutchinson Community College women's & men's basketball teams were victorious on Wednesday in postseason play for the Regional tournament quarterfinals.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, Regional quarterfinals:
*9th-ranked Butler CC defeated Garden City 70-44 in El Dorado; the Grizzlies improved to 20-2, advancing to Friday's semifinals at Friends University in Wichita.
*20th-ranked Hutchinson CC won at home against Cowley College, 84-64; the Blue Dragons advanced to 19-4, advancing to Friday's semifinals.
MEN'S BASKETBALL, Regional quarterfinals:
*15th-ranked Cowley raced past Neosho County 105-71 in Arkansas City; Cowley is second in the nation averaging 108 points per game. Cowley, winners of 10 straight games, is now 19-4, advancing to Friday's semifinals in Wichita at Friends University.
*Hutchinson CC won on home court 93-74 against Independence, improving to 17-5 and advancing to Friday's semifinals in Wichita. This was Steve Eck's 400th game in his 12 years as head coach at Hutchinson CC.
