The Wichita State Men's Basketball Team could not overcome a very slow start and early big deficit, and their season comes to an end with a loss in the NIT quarterfinals at Tulsa 83-79. Just 8 minutes into the game, Tulsa had built a 30-6 lead and left the Shockers with a big hill to climb.

And they very nearly pulled it off. WSU had cut into lead and trailed by 16 at the half, 52-36. And the comeback continued into the second half with the Shockers continuing to claw their way back in. And with over 6 and 1/2 minutes left in the game the shockers took their first lead of the game 70-68.

But Tulsa executed in the final minutes of the game and sealed the 83-79 win to move on in the NIT. Wichita State shot just 37.5 percent from the field, including 2-of-19 (10.5 percent) from beyond the arc - a season worst. Tulsa outscored Wichita State by 30 from beyond the arc, as the Golden Hurricane made 12-of-29 attempts. Wichita State clawed back into the game by getting to the free throw line where they converted a season-best 93.5 percent (29-for-31). Wichita State finishes the season 24-12, its most wins since 2018.
