The Wichita State Men's Basketball Team took control early in the second round of the NIT in Gallagher-Iba Arena facing Oklahoma State, and fought off several Cowboy comeback attempts. It was also a good shooting night for the Shockers, hitting 14 for 26 from behind the 3-point arc, and WSU defeated OSU 96-70.
Wichita State outrebounded the Cowboys by eight, shooting 49.3 percent from the field, including 57.6 percent in the second half. The Shockers were led by Kenyon Giles who had his 18th 20+ point game behind a game-high 28 points on 8-of-16 three-pointers. Five Shockers reached double figures scoring. Dillon Battie recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Karon Boyd and Michael Gray Jr. both chipped in 13 apiece and Dre Kindell added 11. TJ Williams grabbed 10 rebounds.
Wichita State advances to the NIT quarterfinals where they will meet No. 1 seed Tulsa Tuesday night at 6 p.m. It will be the fourth meeting between the two schools this season.
