Social media is often an unkind place, and let’s hope new Jets kicker Alex Kessman isn’t looking at Twitter on the Microsoft Surface tablets on the sidelines.
Kessman was signed off the Jets practice squad Saturday because former kicker Matt Ammendola had some accuracy issues…and then he proceeded to badly miss two extra points in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Eagles, leading Twitter to put him on the rotisserie less than 15 minutes into his NFL career:
Alex Kessman needs to get all the pics and videos he can in a gets jersey today. Take pics with players after the game too. This is the last time he will be in an NFL jersey. #Jets #Eagles

I'm hearing Kessman wore clown shoes for my cause my cleats

Kessman looked good in practice, but at this level they pretty much want you to do it in the game.

Kessman the Missman #Jets

I feel bad for this Kessman guy. But no more XP/FG attempts the rest of the game. Cut him tomorrow, both parties (player and team) just pretend this never happened. #Jets

Perhaps even more damning for Kessman? On their third drive, the Jets decided to go for it on 4th-and-goal inside the five - and after they scored to make it 18-14, Robert Saleh immediately signaled to go for two.
