Wichita State Athletics has received a major financial boost after an anonymous donor pledged $500,000 to support the university's "We Fight For Wichita" fundraising campaign.

The gift will serve as a matching challenge, with the donor agreeing to match contributions dollar-for-dollar up to $500,000. If the goal is met, the campaign will generate a total of $1 million for the fund.

The "We Fight For Wichita" fund is the athletic department's primary resource for revenue sharing and roster enhancement, helping Wichita State remain competitive as college athletics continues to evolve under new financial models.

"This extraordinary gift demonstrates a tremendous belief in the future of Wichita State Athletics and the power of Shocker Nation," Director of Athletics Kevin Saal said. "This matching challenge gives every donor the opportunity to make twice the impact while helping position our programs for sustained success."

Athletics officials say the campaign comes at a pivotal time as schools across the country adjust to changes in the college sports landscape, including increased opportunities for student-athlete compensation and revenue sharing. The department is encouraging alumni, fans and supporters to contribute during the matching campaign to maximize the impact of every donation.

Those interested in supporting the campaign can donate through Wichita State Athletics' giving website or contact the WSU Development Office for more information.
