Venezuela staged a comeback victory over Italy to secure a spot in the World Baseball Classic championship game against Team USA.
Italy jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Venezuela responded late, breaking through with a three-run seventh inning to take control. The rally was the difference as Venezuela held on for a 4-2 win.
The victory sends Venezuela to its first-ever WBC final, ending Italy’s surprising tournament run, which included an undefeated stretch earlier in the competition.
Venezuela will now face the United States in the championship game, with both teams looking to cap strong tournament performances with a title.
