Back in October of 2022, BIGHIT revealed that BTS would not be performing together until 2025 due to the members’ individual compulsory obligations. Now the third member to join up, following fellow BTS members Jin and J-Hope’s prior enlistments, Suga filled fans in on his own plans after wrapping the Asian leg of his solo Agust D-DAY tour earlier this summer.
Reps for the group dropped the latest news on September 17 via the fan community platform Weverse, saying Suga is set to begin his mandatory military service at the end of this week, on September 22. The announcement continues, “there will not be any official events taking place on the day he starts his service or on the day he enters the training camp. We kindly ask fans to refrain from visiting SUGA at his workplace during the period of his service. Please convey your warm regards and encouragement in your hearts only.”
Additionally, they warn, “please be mindful to avoid getting adversely affected by unauthorized tours or package products that illegally use the artist’s intellectual property... Our company will take appropriate measures against attempts at any commercial activity that make unauthorized use of artist IP.”
Suga, with a new short haircut, was also available on Weverse the day of the announcement, explaining to fans his service is only temporary and “nothing to cry about,” promising that they’d meet again in 2025. "Please don’t worry too much," he added.
