Alright y'all, it's finally here. Drake's LONG awaited and anticipated album Certified Lover Boy dropped at 2AM Friday morning. So of course, we stayed up waiting for it and then listened to the whole thing, and now it's time to talk about it.

Executive produced by Drake, Noah "40" Shebib, Oliver El-Khatib, and Noel Cadastre, the 21 song tracklist arrived with an excitingly unexpected quick little appearance from Nicki Minaj and a star-studded lineup of features from Travis Scott, Future, JAY-Z, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Lil Baby, Kid Cudi and Young Thug. Umm no we ain't finished, also Lil Durk, 21 Savage, Project Pat, Ty Dolla $ign, Giveon, Yebba, and Tems. Okay, now we done.
Dedicating the project to the late Nadia Ntuli and Mercedes Morr, per his IG story, Drake described the album as "a combination of toxic masculinity and acceptance of truth which is inevitably heartbreaking." Which if you've already listened to it, actually makes total sense.

While the project as a whole has a much chiller vibe and tempo than we expected, our overall opinion on the album hasn't officially been made. Because as with all projects from any certified genius, it's a must to let them simmer.
With that said, some of the tracks were simply clear standouts from the jump, and as always "the kid with the motormouth" served up lyrics that left us shooketh, vibing out, or honestly just confused.
So, while there's obviously so many to choose from, in honor of the 6 God himself, we're listing off 6 of those CLB lyrics that left an impact upon arrival — and if we're keeping it 100, we're not the only ones to think as much. Seriously, check the internet... better yet, we'll just show you.
1.He already know what it is
NGL we listened to "Champagne Poetry" twice, once to listen to Drake and the second time to listen to the Beatles-sampled beat. But tbh we smirked during both those times, when Drake said "under a picture lives some of the greatest quotes from me."
While Drizzy might be referring to one specific unknown individual, using his lyrics as a caption isn't reserved for any specific type of person. From dudes and baddies to basic B's, Drake's "quotes" are notoriously relatable to all, and therefore will always have a place under thirst traps, group shots, candids, and plandids alike.
2.Umm sorry… you're a what now?
While the album's third track "Girls Want Girls," started off solid with some of those Drizzy claps and snares we know and love, things quickly took a weird turn with the lyrics. Drake kicked things off with the chorus, that at one point had him saying, "Yeah, say that you a lesbian, girl, me too." Which had us saying, um weird flex but OK.
3.Fair trade indeed
The general consensus for individuals on Twitter regarding Drake's line "I've been losing friends and finding peace" off the Travis Scott featured "Fair Trade," is that they "really felt that." And while we agree with those sentiments, our feelings were less emotional and more actually took a screenshot for the timecode. Because besides that line being fire, it honestly seems like a fair trade indeed.
4.He shoots, he scores... but not like that.
Any time Drake mentioned a lady the internet pops off. And if that lady happens to be spoken for, even if its speculation, then forget it, game ova (y'all remember KiKi do you love me? Right, point made). So when Drizzy name checked Ayesha Curry on "Race My Mind," rapping "How I'm supposed to wife it? You not Ayesha enough," Twitter straight up lost it. And while yeah at first we were like wuuuuuuuuuuuuut, we regained our common sense and took the line for the compliment that it is. Even her NBA superstar husband Steph Curry didn't seem to mind, even giving Drake a personal congrats for the album release.
5.Passive aggressive or aggressively passive. Either way we're here for it
Okay so this one's dedicated to petty passive-aggressive energy because he "Told you I'm aimin' straight for the head, not aiming to please," on "7 AM on Bridle Path." And because 6 is not enough and also why not. Additionally deserving of a shoutout Drake's ability to name drop and diss his haters at the same time like he did in "No Friends In The Industry" with they lyrics, "I'm like Sha'Carri, smoke 'em on and off the track." Also "Checked the weather," and the forecast is in, which according to "Knife Talk," "it's gettin' real oppy outside."
6.Consider the wait over
We're right here 🙋♀️... said literally any able bodied human being listening to "Champagne Poetry" when Drake said "my soulmate somewhere out in the world just waiting on me." Yeah… we know we already gave this song a shoutout but when Drake alludes to wanting to settle down it deserves a moment, so here it is.
If you haven't already, don't be that person. Listen to Certified Lover Boy below.
