It's a new beginning for the 4 members of GIRLSET, who recently changed their name and reemerged with the electric and enthusiastic new single, "Commas." The group stopped by our Los Angeles studio to talk with Bru about the new name, new song, and much more.

"When we decided to change the name, we wanted something authentic, something that felt right for us because stepping into this new era, it had to be something that really resonated with us and it needed to feel right," Camila says. "After many options, we thought that GIRLSET really felt right for us in terms of the meaning mainly. What it means, well the first thing is a set, is we're a set of 4. We have this phrase also in our introduction video that says we are setting who we wanna be, and that's pretty much the main meaning. We have the control over who we wanna become, no matter what anyone says, and that's the message for everyone else to be that girl or boy."
The first offering from GIRLSET is "Commas," a song that demands attention and serves as a great introduction to the more mature sound of these 4 women, "I feel like it's very like impactful when you first play it," says Savanna. "I feel like for the chorus we spent some time trying to make it feel right to us, and like authentic, and we had kind of changed our execution a little bit to make it more us. Right now you could say it's more sultry, still energetic, but before it was very shouty," she shares of the song's evolution.
"I think lately as a group, we've been very involved in the creative process," adds Savanna. "We've been writing a lot of music, and so I think as a group we've really grown in that aspect of like our artistry and just our vision and where we wanna go as a group."
