The Queen of Rock and Roll, Tina Turner Died

Tina Turner, dubbed "The Queen of Rock and Roll", died at her home in Switzerland yesterday.

She was 83.

She had suffered health issues in recent years including cancer, a stroke, and kidney failure.

Tina sold 200 million albums and won eight Grammys.  She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame TWICE.  Once in 2021 as a solo artist, and in 1991 alongside Ike Turner.

Tina had a number one hit with "What's Love Got To Do With It."

In 1985, she played the villain, Aunty Entity, in "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome", featuring her hit song "We Don't Need Another Hero".

In 1988 she had a worldwide hit with "The Best," the song continues to be used for commercials and sports teams around the globe, but especially in the U.K.

Random fact about Tina and her connection to rock music… Whitesnake singer David Coverdale says that he originally wrote the song "Is This Love" for Tina Turner, but when the band's label heard it, they refused to let it go. It became one of their biggest hits.
