
The El Cortez is one of Downtown Las Vegas' oldest properties built back in 1941. It has been renovated multiple times 1952, 1963, 1980, 2006, 2009, 2019. The El Cortez has been of service to tourists for almost 80 years. It also appears in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
Located a block from The Fremont experience and located near Container Park. The El Cortez has been known as a "break in house". A break in house is usually a smaller venue where new dealers go to get experienced and seasoned, before moving onto better jobs or higher profile positions in larger more popular venues.
Upon the sale of The El Cortez by then owner Jackie Gaughan in 2008, he continued to live there until he died in the year 2014. He is said to have been seen still playing table games and eating there. You sell it and get to continue to live there. How cool is that? Totally Vegas'd
