This month we are dedicated to making sure the seven Pop songs we've selected refresh and rejuvenate your go-to playlist. After getting over the holiday hump and looking forward to spring, it always feels like our daily listening selections need some sprucing up as we are in the process of shifting gears.
Thanks to FKA Twigs' late January mixtape release, called Caprisongs, Tove Lo's new release and first new music video in two years, Amber Mark's debut album, and newcomers like Flowerovlove and Edith, your updated listening experience will be brimming with a plethora of Pop selections that deliver a range of R&B undertones, Disco beats, squeak rap, twinkly synth sounds and DIY bedroom bops.
Check out our seven Pop songs below!
"How Long" - Tove Lo
For her first release in two years, after welcoming a baby into the world, Tove Lo is back with her dramatic Pop ballad, "How Long." Not only is her doll-like performance in the "How Long" music video mesmerizing, but the track marks the Swedish singer's willful reentry into pop culture. The new single was utilized in the second season soundtrack of HBO's hit series Euphoria.
"The Day We Met" - Edith
Edith is a Romanian-born, London-based Pop artist whose latest single, "The Day We Met" takes on delightful dance beats and emotionally honest storylines. The new song will appear on Edith's upcoming project, In This House We Celebrate Heartbreak.
"I Love This Song" - Flowerovlove
We love Flowerovlove's song too! The bedroom-inspired ditty is beginning to make its rounds on TikTok, and we can already predict viral success. Flowerovlove is a London-based 16-year-old artist who makes music at home with her brother.
"lightbeamers" - FKA Twigs
In January, FKA Twigs debuted her zodiac-centric new mixtape, Caprisongs. A departure from her typically avant-garde and heady sound, the "tears in the club" artist leaned into a twinkly Pop aesthetic and pulled from aspects of Jersey Club music, Afrobeats, choral sounds and even using the sound of cassette players clicking to create a project that allows deep collective sadness to be swallowed whole by the prospect of happiness on the horizon. Twigs' track "lightbeamers" is a celestial-sounding symphony of harp plucks and choir-like vocals that encourage all the "hard dreamers" to "lay down your fears/ain't nobody die from it now."
"Bliss" - Amber Mark
2022 welcomed Amber Mark's debut record, Three Dimensions Deep. Her track, "Bliss" brings together R&B, Soul and Pop all as Mark describes finding bliss and discovering real love. The Tennessee-born songstress sings "All I really wanna do is stop time/ Didn't really plan on getting this high," a feeling we can all relate to when we are experiencing true love.
"Feels Like A Different Thing" - Confidence Man
Taking a page out of Crystal Waters' playbook and transporting us back to the early 90s, Australia's Confidence Man is serving up early dance beats and massive choral interludes to get us to work it on the dancefloor on their latest single, "Feels Like A Different Thing." The song is the group's second single from their upcoming sophomore album, TILT.
"Water Color Eyes" – Lana Del Rey
Featured on Euphoria's second season soundtrack, Lana Del Rey's signature melancholic, femme fatale sound is addictive and the essential sad girl staple. "Water Color Eyes" accomplishes all of the above thanks to Del Rey's haunting vocals and gentle piano chords.
