The masks are back in Las Vegas.
In response to rising COVID-19 cases in Southern Nevada, Clark County Commissioners voted Tuesday to put in place a mask mandate for all employees when indoors in public spaces at work. The masks will need to be worn by every employee, regardless of vaccination status.
The mandate will begin late Wednesday night and run through at least August 17.
Plans for compliance will be submitted to Clark County by casinos, grocery stores and malls. This includes venues hosting 250 or more people. Signage will also be posted at businesses asking people to follow Southern Nevada Health District Guidelines and asking them to get vaccinated.
Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak tweeted his support upon hearing the news:
I support the Clark County Commission for using their local authority to issue this mitigation measure amid significant community transmission in Southern Nevada and as we continue our joint effort to increase access and confidence in the COVID-19 vaccines https://t.co/M1SH3zb8Jc

Local health leaders say about 80% of the new cases of COVID-19 are from the Delta variant. Clark County's test positivity stands at 13.8%.
Mandate lasts through at least August 17 for all people, regardless of vaccination status
