Just last week the BTS ARMY was in full celebration mode as Jung Kook dropped his first major solo single, “Seven,” featuring rapper Latto and helmed by super-producers Andrew Watt and Cirkut.
"When I first heard ‘Seven,’ I just could feel that it was going to work,’” the 25-year-old explained. “I was just like, ‘I have to do this.’”
While he heard the potential of the song immediately, he also knew it wasn’t a song we wanted to approach completely solo.
“When I first heard the song, I wanted a rapper for the song,” he shared. “So, my label, producers and I were looking for a featured artist. We thought Latto was a perfect match so we reached out to her. She gladly came on board.”
According to Jung Kook, the single is just the beginning of him taking on “various challenges” on his own as he gains more confidence traveling the world as a solo artist.
He currently serves as a Calvin Klein ambassador, which he says has gotten him enough underwear to “cover the next few years.” He also shared he has some dreams of acting, but what about more solo music?
The release of his first single was a long time coming for his most loyal fans and he expressed his sincere gratitude for them waiting for the end result.
“It took some time for my solo single to come out, I’m sorry it took so long,” he said, addressing his fans during the interview. “I think because I had those timed for myself I could release such a great song.”
The excitement surrounding “Seven,” has many fans wondering what’s next. Could it be a solo album?
“I don’t know what will come next,” answered Jung Kook. “There isn’t any specific set yet.”
While he made no promises as to what will come, he says music has been his main focus and no matter what he does, he promises his fans it’ll be well worth the wait.
“I’m just continuing to work on new music,” he shared. “I’ll always try to be the best artist that can give you energy and comfort with music.”
