James Reid has reemerged with his first new single in three years and we’re chatting with him all about it. Join us for a RADIO.COM LIVE Check In above to hear how Reid feels about new music and much more. Watch the full interview above.
Reid’s last album, Palm Dreams, was released back in 2017. Reid just returned with a brand new song called “Soda” and spoke with CNN Philippines on the origins of the track.
"I called it 'Soda,' because I'm not entirely sure why. When I was making the music that's how it made me feel. You know when you're thirsty and you have that first sip of soda, it feels so good,” he said
"I feel like this is the kind of sound that I've always really loved. Deifnitely the music I'll be making moving forward is something along this line, like a mixture of funk and little bit of soul, R&B," Reid added.
The eclectic genre blending Reid utilizes in his work makes us excited to hear what else he has up his sleeve. It also came as a result of the events of 2020. “Despite the chaos and tragedy that was 2020, it really challenged me and forced me to evolve in more ways than just music,” Reid told The Manila Times.
“So there’s been a silver lining. I made this song as a reflection of that perspective. Learning to ride the highs and the lows. The future is unknown, so all we can do is have enough self-awareness to make the most out of life’s surprises.”
