Marie Kondo’s 2019 Netflix series Tidying Up was an absolute viral sensation, and because it timed perfectly with the point where most of America was staying at home during the pandemic, she became a household name in cleanliness and organization.

Unfortunately though, it sounds like Kondo has given up her own philosophy regarding a neat and tidy house.

In a new interview with the Washington Post, Kondo admits that her house is kind of a mess right now, especially following the birth of her third child in 2021.

Kondo told the publication, “My home is messy, but the way I am spending my time is the right way for me at this time at this stage of my life.

Up until now, I was a professional tidier, so I did my best to keep my home tidy at all times.  I have kind of given up on that in a good way for me. Now I realize what is important to me is enjoying spending time with my children at home.”

Kondo and her husband Takumi Kawahara welcomed their son in 2021.  They also share daughters Satsuki and Miko.
