Well, Spears did catch something in the end: $3 million.

The email she received said she had won a drawing in the Michigan Lottery, and remembering she had purchased a ticket a few weeks back, decided to check the state's lottery website and discovered her win was legit!

She claimed her prize at the lottery's headquarters last week, and she was only in her spam folder because she was looking for a missing email from one of her friends.

Spears plans to share her winnings with family and retire early, and wants to make sure she doesn't find herself in this situation again.

Spears told CNN, "I definitely added the Michigan Lottery to my safe senders list just in case I ever get lucky enough to receive another email about a huge prize."
