    John McDevitt

John McDevitt is a reporter and editor at KYW Newsradio.

He is also co-host of KYW's "Beer & Booze Broz" podcast (@TheBeerBroz). John has won numerous awards, including an Edward R. Murrow Award in 2017 for his reporting on "Dems After Dark," a series of light-side reports covering nightlife during the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

McDevitt grew up in Drexel Hill, Delaware County, graduating from Monsignor Bonner High School. He went on to Temple University where he graduated with a BA in radio, television, and film. John has been in the all-news family since 1990. He started as a production assistant at KYW Newsradio. After about a year he moved to Los Angeles where he worked as an editorial assistant at KFWB-AM. He also dabbled in acting and took television and film performance classes. While at KFWB he worked on his broadcast news writing and delivery. His big break came during an outbreak of wildfires: he was put on the air as a reporter because most of the rest of the staff was at an office party at the time.
