ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — St. Louis Children's Hospital is looking for a new President.

Dr. Mark Shen has resigned after less than five months on the job.

In a statement to KMOX,  BJC Healthcare wrote the following:

Mark Shen has made a personal decision to resign as president of St. Louis Children’s Hospital. The leadership teams at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and BJC HealthCare respect his decision, based on his desire to do what is best for him and his family. He had joined St. Louis Children’s Hospital in November 2018 from Ascension Health, Inc.
A search is underway to identify the next president and Peggy Gordin, St. Louis Children’s Hospital vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer, will serve as acting president.
Gordin, who joined St. Louis Children’s Hospital in 2008, will work closely with former St. Louis Children’s Hospital President and BJC Group President Joan Magruder and Gary Silverman, MD, PhD, pediatrician-in-chief at Washington University School of Medicine at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, to lead the hospital during the transition.
The St. Louis Children’s Hospital team will continue to focus on meeting and exceeding the needs and expectations of Children’s patients and their families.
