Living History: St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones

For Black History Month, KMOX's Carol Daniel is speaking with St. Louisans who are making Black history today.

For the sixth installment of the series, Carol talks with St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones. Jones is the first Black woman to hold the office. She talked with Carol about her early aspirations -- like modeling -- as well as her early exposure to St. Louis politics. She also talked about her education experience at Affton High School.

"I will say that, you know, the faculty there, the staff there, everybody was really welcoming. They were really brave about making sure they paid attention to race relations and race issues," Mayor Jones said. She talked about a counselor who encouraged her to go to college, and more.
