MoDOT to close portions of I-44 this weekend: 'Expect significant delays'
St. Louis drivers may have to take a detour or two this weekend.
The Missouri Department of Tranportation announced that a segment of I-44 Downtown will be closed from September 23-26. MoDOT said in a statement that drivers will need to find alternate routes or plan for significant delays.
MoDOT will close both eastbound and westbound I-44 between the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge and the I-44/I-55 split south of 7th and Park, starting at 7 p.m. Friday night. The ramps from I-44/I-55 to the eastbound I-64, and the ramp from westbount I-64 to westbound I-44/southbound I-55 will also be closed at the Mississippi River near the Poplar Street Bridge.
MoDOT says all ramps are scheduled to close by 7 p.m. on Friday, with all lanes in both directions of I-44 closed by 8 p.m.
MoDOT will mark detours, which will mostly use Tucker, Jefferson and parts of Broadway. All lanes and ramps are expected to open by 5 a.m. on Monday, September 26.
