UPDATE: 156 Acre Brush Fire in Chino Hills Caused by a Bird on a Power Line

A 156-acre brush fire broke out Sunday south of the 60 Freeway in Chino Hills and was threatening nearby homes.

Fire officials report that the fire was started when "a large bird' caught fire on a power line, then fell into the dry grass below and the fire began.

By Saturday night the fire had burned more 150-acres.

Dubbed the Star Fire, it ignited at about 2 p.m. in a rugged area near Falling Star Lane and Chino Hills Parkway, according to fire officials.

Over 185 firefighters battled the blaze and by Monday the fire was 80% contained.

One house was on fire, according to media reports from the scene. Firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the Chino Valley and Los Angeles County fire departments, as well as Cal Fire, were battling the blaze.
