A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that thousands of people may have been exposed to COVID-19 on airplanes.

CDC officials say nearly 11,000 travelers may have been exposed to one of the 1,600 known cases of people flying while contagious with coronavirus, reported the New York Post. Although this report has been released, experts have not been able to confirm a single case of viral transmission on a plane in the United States.

“An absence of cases identified or reported is not evidence that there were no cases,” CDC spokeswoman Caitlin Shockey said.
