Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department's South Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of a deadly hit-and-run.
Officials say at 8:25 a.m. on July 18, a 2021 dark gray Kia K5 was in a speed contest with at least two other cars and traveling down Figueroa at 89th Street.
Footage provided by the LAPD revealed the Kia K5 hit a 59-year-old man who was walking in an unmarked crosswalk.
The driver of the Kia K5 left the scene right after the collision and officials said the drivers of the cars involved in the race also left the scene.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. The suspect(s) and vehicle(s) are still outstanding.
Officials say a reward of up to $25,000 is available to those who provide information leading to the offender's identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution.
