30-year-old Jose Rodriguez and 31-year-old and Eric Sanchez were arrested Monday, according to ABC 7. Bail for each suspect was set at $2 million.

Vargas’ family said the 30-year-old and his family were at Central Avenue and 92nd Street when one of the suspects approached Vargas and asked what gang he was affiliated with. When Vargas went to respond, the suspect shot him.

Police told CBS LA Rodriguez, who was charged with murder, is believed to have been the one who shot Vargas. Sanchez, on the other hand, is charged with being an accessory after the fact.

Billy Vargas, the victim’s brother, told the news outlet he was relieved to hear the suspects were arrested.

“To hear this, it’s definitely been a weight off my shoulders,” he told CBS LA.

A GoFundMe was set up for the Vargas family. So far, over $59,300 have been raised.
