TEMECULA, Calif. (KNX) — One person is in critical condition after first responders pulled them from a fully submerged vehicle in Harveston Lake in Temecula.

Riverside County Fire Department rescue swimmers responded to the 29000 block of Lake House Road around 7:45 p.m. after receiving calls about a waterlogged car with someone trapped inside.

A team of five divers located the person and pulled them from the lake, rushing them to the hospital.

No one else was inside the car, and it's unclear how the vehicle crashed into the water. A sheriff's spokesperson suspected the driver suffered a medical emergency, Patch reported.

"Foul play is not suspected," sheriff's Sgt. Brandi Swan told the news outlet.

Harveston Lake sits near the 215 Freeway, where it meets Winchester Road. The 17-acre park surrounding the lake provides picnic areas and boat rentals.
