DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The Dallas City Council could vote today to extend the deadlines for UBER to bring hundreds of new jobs to north Texas.

The city offered Uber millions of dollars worth of incentives to open a major corporate office in a high-rise building on the edge of Deep Ellum, and that deal included a timetable for the company to create hundreds of jobs here.

But Uber has cut back on its hiring since the nation has been dealing with COVID-19 and has also announced tousands of layoffs in some divisions.

The City Council will vote on a plan today to extend the economic development deal with Uber, and give the company an extra two years to meet its local hiring goals.
