FRISCO (1080 KRLD) -  Hundreds of strangers are banding together in Frisco to share a message about unity. How? Through the Rocks Against Racism initiative.

The new campaign focuses on spreading positivity through brightly decorated rocks-- yes, rocks--  painted with words of encouragement.

Shannon Hammond helped start the initiative through the Facebook group "Good Stuff in Frisco." She says it's about more than just decorating rocks-- it's about starting conversations, having discussions, addressing difficult topics and listening.

"A lot of kids have written ... 'Be Kind,'" Hammond says. "'Everyone Matters, 'Love Everybody.' Things like that."

On Saturday, about 200 people decorated rocks at the initiative’s first event.

Tonight, Hammond says the group will be painting rocks once again at 7 p.m. at the corner of The Trails Parkway and Smotherman Road, near the Plateau Pool.

Supplies will be provided ... Hammond says all you need to bring is a little bit of joy.
