Jerry Jones' search for the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys is underway and one of the favorites to get the job has now weighed in on the opening.
During his media availability Tuesday, Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore was asked if he would be interested in the Cowboys head coaching vacancy.
“I mean, obviously I spent a lot of time there. Eight years there and so, obviously have plenty of relationships [in] that place,” Moore said. “I love it here. I’ve had so much fun here. It’s been a really fun process and we’re in a really special situation right now, getting the chance to play this Sunday. Have a chance to make a run at this thing and that’s really all you worry about.
“Everything else is what it is and we’ll see where it takes you.”
The Cowboys missed their opportunity to interview Moore last week while deciding Mike McCarthy's fate and aren't permitted to interview their former offensive coordinator until the end of the playoffs.
The Cowboys had an elite offense in Moore's four seasons calling the plays, as Dallas led the NFL in scoring (29.7 points per game) and yards per game (414.7) from 2019-2022, according to 105.3 The Fan's Bobby Belt.
Dallas was also second in yards per play (6.1) and passing touchdowns (103), and third in rushing touchdowns (62).
Under his watch in Philadelphia this season, the Eagles offense was 8th in yards per game (367.2) and 7th in scoring (27.2).
Moore left Dallas to become the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023 after he and the Cowboys mutually parted ways. The Eagles brought him in to be offensive coordinator after Jim Harbaugh took over in Los Angeles and hired his own coaching staff.
Should Moore be the favorite for the job and do you believe he can lead a football team?
