Cowboys could be without Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence for multiple weeks

The Dallas Cowboys suffered a pair of key injuries on Thursday night in their 20-15 win over the New York Giants, with Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence both exiting the game in the second half.

Now, we know the extent of those injuries.

According to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, Parsons suffered a high-ankle sprain and "could miss between 2-4 weeks." And, according to Todd Archer of ESPN, Lawrence "will miss at least multiple weeks" with a mid-foot sprain.

Archer adds that doctors are still working to determine the severity of Lawrence's injury and will have a firmer timeline once the injury is "fully diagnosed."

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones joined the GBag Nation on Friday afternoon and said Parsons "will be week-to-week" and the team hasn't ruled him out for next Sunday's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football.

As for Lawrence, Jones admitted that the veteran pass rusher was "probably" headed for a "little bit longer" of an absence than Parsons.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy also said both players were getting second opinions and that both injuries "are worse than we anticipated."

Shortly after Jones and McCarthy made those comments, it was revealed by NFL insider Ian Rapoport that Lawrence would miss four weeks with a mid-foot sprain, and is a candidate for injured reserve.

From what we know now, the Cowboys will likely not have either player until at least Week 8 when they face the San Francisco 49ers. Dallas has ten days before they face Pittsburgh next wee. They then have a home date with the Detroit Lions in Week 6 before their bye in Week 7.

As for a little bit of good news, Jones said cornerback DaRon Bland, who missed the first four games of the season with a fractured foot, "probably" won't return next week against Pittsburgh, but added that the league leader in interceptions last season is "getting closer."

The Cowboys could elect to open the 21-day practice window for Bland when the team begins their on-field prep for the Steelers on Wednesday.
